Queer Stories. Shared Worlds.

Orikae Films creates queer stories about human connection in a multicultural world. Our films explore love, family, friendship, ambition, identity, and the communities people build for themselves. We are committed to portraying multicultural communities as lived realities. Our stories embrace the ways language, culture, and community naturally shape everyday life, allowing characters to exist authentically within the worlds they inhabit. Whether culture is central to the narrative or simply part of the fabric of a character's life, we seek to reflect the richness of communities where people from different backgrounds build meaningful lives together.

Izakaya Heartbreak
Feature Film | In development
Izakaya Heartbreak is a bilingual Japanese-American queer reunion drama set inside a izakaya in New York. The story follows a J-Pop star who returns home after a decade away and reunites with the former lover who now lives the life he left behind. The film draws from Yaoi/Boys' Love, but explores what happens when those romantic ideals collide with the realities of adult life, family obligation, and cultural identity.
